Why OEM
equipment matters

A generic OBD scanner mainly reads engine emissions codes. ISTA reads everything a BMW has to say — every module, BMW-specific codes, live values, guided diagnostics and the ability to code and program. On a modern BMW, that's the difference between guessing and knowing.

It's also how we avoid the classic trap of throwing parts at a problem. We confirm the cause first, then fix it — and we can clear faults and re-check properly afterwards.

ISTA vs a generic OBD scanner — what's the difference?+
A generic OBD scanner mostly reads engine emissions codes. ISTA is BMW's dealer-level system: it reads every module, shows BMW-specific codes, live values and guided test plans, and can code and program. For a BMW it finds faults a generic scanner can't see.
Warning light on but the car drives fine — should I worry?+
A warning light means a module logged a fault, even if the car feels normal. Some are minor; others (drivetrain, airbag, brake) affect safety or worsen if ignored. A quick ISTA scan tells you what's stored and how urgent it is.
Can you inspect a used BMW before I buy it?+
Yes. We run a full ISTA scan of all modules, check stored and historical faults, service indicators and key wear items, so you know the car's real condition before buying. Recommended for any used BMW or MINI.
